#08 Delekena
For people in Deleneka, having clean water changed everything.
The community of Deleneka lived in an isolated rural area and spend hours every day walking to collect water for their families.
Not only does this keep children out of school and take up time that parents could be using to earn money, but the water fetched often carries diseases that can make everyone sick.
Through our contribution, we've learned that having access to clean water means education, income and health - especially for children and women. However, for the village of Delekena, Water is Life. Opportunity. Hope. Future.
We are happy to say, now the 68 people living in Delekena are able to drink clean water thanks to the construction of our well. Their day to day life has radically changed.
Now women and girls can invest their time in other activities such as going to school, working, doing home chores.
We were informed by our partners at Benga Mission that overall the dynamic of the village is much more positive. Something so simple as water, has completely changed their lives for the better.
