#10 Chapata (COLVIN)
For the people of Chapata, water has a completely different meaning. Something so vital and yet rare in their everyday. Its lack affects the life of its community in every one of its aspects.
"The women of Chapata walk 7 hours each day to fetch for water... It's crazy to think they spend most of their days walking with such a heavyweight on their heads...We need to help"
The Chapata children are missing out on their education and worse of all, are facing the danger of drinking contaminated water, which happens to have on of the highest mortality rates.
We believe that everyone in the world should have access to a source of clean water and sanitation.
Our mission is to work towards a better world, where everyone has met their main human need, clean water. A better world where communities such as Chapata has had their health conditions improved, where school enrollments have risen and the children are no longer forced to seek water for hours and hours per day, but are given back their careless childhood. A better world where there is higher economic prosperity to improve the quality of life of the people of Chapata.
With your help, another well has been built and we are happy to say, now that the 61 people living in Chapata are able to drink clean water thanks to you. Their circumstances have taken a drastic turn into a brighter day.
Through our contribution, we've learned that having access to clean water means education, income and health - especially for children and women. Because Water is Life.
