Uplift your everyday life with yoga practice
Dayma Albella @beyourbestbeyoga expresses nothing but gratitude for her yoga practice. She speaks about her journey with such passion that even those who are most intimidated by it find themselves following her tips to start their own practice.
In today's fast-paced world, who wouldn't want to achieve a sense of balance that goes beyond the yoga mat?
How and when did you start yoga journey?
My yoga journey started at the age of 16 but initially faced challenges due to my lack of physical fitness and flexibility, which I later learned were not barriers to starting a yoga practice. A few years later, I discovered Camila Gregori, a transformative yoga teacher who catered to all levels of experience and fitness. This marked a turning point, and I fell in love with yoga, practicing with her three times a week. In October 2022, I earned my yoga teacher training certificate and now lead classes for all levels, often outdoors. I also organize retreats to help individuals reset, recharge, and embrace self-love through yoga's profound benefits, emphasizing that fitness and flexibility aren't prerequisites for starting this journey.
How would you say yoga uplifts your journeys or everyday life?
Yoga has been an incredible force of positivity in my life, and it uplifts both my personal journey and everyday experiences in numerous ways. First and foremost, it has taught me the importance of mindfulness and being present in the moment. In today's fast-paced world, it's so easy to get caught up in the chaos and stress of daily life. Yoga has given me the tools to center myself, calm my mind, and find inner peace, even amidst the challenges we all face.
Moreover, yoga has enhanced my physical and mental well-being. The practice has strengthened my body, improved my flexibility & mobility, and provided a sense of balance that extends beyond the mat.
On a deeper level, yoga has connected me to a wonderful community of like-minded individuals who share a passion for wellness and self-discovery. Teaching yoga has allowed me to inspire others on their own journeys, and witnessing their progress and transformations has been incredibly fulfilling.
What do you think makes the yoga retreats special? How do you create an environment of healing and growth for participants?
Yoga retreats hold a special place in my heart because they offer a unique blend of serenity and personal growth. To create an environment of healing and transformation, I focus on selecting tranquil natural settings that foster a deep connection with nature and oneself. My retreats are designed with a balance of yoga, fun activities, and mindful practices, allowing participants to explore their inner world.
Nourishing, wholesome meals are lovingly prepared to support physical and emotional well-being. Finally, I encourage a sense of community through group activities, discussions, and heartfelt connections. In this way, my goal is to offer an intimate and supportive retreat experience where each participant can embark on their unique journey of self-discovery, healing, and personal growth.
Could you share with us any advice to those who are interested in trying yoga but may feel intimidated or unsure of where to begin?
Certainly! First and foremost, it's essential to remember that yoga is for everyone, regardless of age, fitness level, or flexibility. I'd recommend beginning with beginner-friendly classes or even online tutorials where you can practice in the comfort of your own space until you feel more confident. Finding a supportive and welcoming yoga studio or instructor is crucial; don't hesitate to ask questions or express any concerns you may have. Remember that progress in yoga is gradual, and consistency is key. The most important thing is to listen to your body, breathe, and be patient with yourself.
What do you do in your daily life to live more sustainably? Do you think that practicing yoga helps you to make more conscious choices in other aspects of your life?
I prioritize sustainability in my daily life, influenced by the principles of yoga. I consciously make choices to live more sustainably, including:
Mindful Consumption: I prioritize quality over quantity and support sustainable brands, promoting ethical and environmentally friendly production.
Reducing Waste: I minimize waste through the use of reusable items, recycling, and composting.
Vegetarian Diet: In alignment with yoga's principles of compassion for all living beings, I've adopted a vegetarian diet to reduce my environmental impact.
Connecting with Nature: Yoga has deepened my connection to the environment, inspiring me to spend time in nature and protect it.
Community Engagement: I engage with a like-minded community to organize cleanups, sustainable living workshops, and awareness campaigns, collectively making a positive impact on our local environment.
A dream to be fulfilled, how do you see yourself in the future?
In the future, I see myself fully immersed in the world of yoga, living my dream of teaching yoga and organizing retreats. I envision continually deepening my own yoga practice, exploring different styles, and expanding my knowledge and expertise. As a yoga teacher, I aim to inspire and empower my students, fostering a thriving community where individuals connect with their inner selves and find peace. In organizing retreats, I see myself leading transformative experiences in serene locations, allowing participants to disconnect from their busy lives and dive deep into their yoga practice, ultimately leaving a lasting impact on their lives.

What do you do on a Sunday afternoon? I train calisthenics with my boyfriend and then we go watch the sunset at the beach
If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be? mmm so hard but I would say banana pancakes

First thing you do when you wake up in the morning. Drink water & move my spine
Favorite yoga posture? At the moment I would say Pincha Mayurasana as it challenges me to stay strong while finding balance
Favorite place to practice yoga: Anywhere close to the ocean.
